I've deleted the wrong partition before, it's not fun. Can't stress this enough, make sure you have the correct drive seleted. Be sure you have your external drive selected. Be very careful in Disk Manager. Chances are the Xbox is only detecting the smaller partition so assumes the drive isn't large enough.
